| Q |
How do I access my course on Moodle? |
| A |
For your program's major coursework (not including bridge or prerequisite courses), after logging in to Moodle, simply scroll down the front page of Moodle until you find the location at which your cohort meets. Then, scan down the list of cohorts within that location and click on your cohort number. That brings you to the list of courses. When you find your next course, click on that link. You will be asked for an enrollment key. That key is your cohort number WITHOUT the letters (for example, the enrollment key for cohort OM179 courses would be 179).
For prerequisites and bridge courses, you will receive an email from either your instructor or from ASAP administration that, among other things, provides your enrollment key. A rule of thumb is that your enrollment key for online bridge courses is the WHOLE COURSE NUMBER including the ZMD code (for example, if you were to take the English course titles, Poems, Prose and Plays as an online bridge course, the enrollment key would be something like ENG118.ZMD117). |

What happens if I can't remember my user name or password? |
| A |
Entering your user name and password to access protected resources at Keuka College is called, "Authentication." Authentication is required to access email, Moodle and Library resources. You will have to call campus IT for issues regarding authentication. During business hours, they can be reached at 315-279-5217. After hours until 10PM and on the weekend, call 315-694-1085. |
| Q |
What do I need to be able to work effectively on line? |
| A |
You will need a personal computer (running at least WindowsXP or Mac OSX).
For optimal viewing, set your monitor resolution for 1440 x 900.
Internet.
You will also need high-speed cable or DSL Internet access. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WORK IN MOODLE WITHOUT IT. Most downloadable documents on Moodle, including syllabi and other handouts would take many minutes to download using a dial-up connection. Most systems will time out before the download is complete.
And forget about video! If you don't have access to high-speed internet access, plan to spend some time at your local library or community college. You can download documents and save them to a flash drive to work with later. Once you've finished homework assignments, simply save them to your flash drive and then upload them via Moodle at your public library or community college.
If you have gone through online student orientation, you should have already addressed most related issues, but if you started your academic career at Keuka before online orientation existed, you may want to at least click on the Orientation banner on the front page of Moodle. It will take you to a preliminary page that gives you specific instructions on how to optimize your Web browser application to work with Moodle. |
| Q |
My Moodle course page does not show up under my cohort course list. |
| A |
Course pages will become available to students no later than one week before the course begins. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't be available sooner. Instructors are given time to personalize their course page and at times, this can be a time consuming process. On the other hand, many instructors finish their customization early and make the page available. The bottom line is, if you don't see your Moodle course page by a week before your course starts, call your program director. Program director contact info can be found by clicking on the Help tab on the Moodle front page. |
| Q |
What if I have a question regarding a specific assignment or other issue on class content? |
| A |
Questions regarding a specific assignment or other issue on class content need to be addressed to the instructor. The instructor's contact information should be documented at the top of the course page. If you cannot make contact with your instructor, the next step is to contact your program director. That contact information can be found by clicking on the HELP tab on the Moodle front page. |
| Q |
I have Adobe Acrobat Reader, but I still can't open my syllabus. |
| A |
Your Reader application may be out dated or corrupt. Before you try anything else, go to Adobe.com and download and install the newest version. Restart your browser and try again. In almost every instance, this action has successfully addressed the issue. |
