Mozilla Firefox is the PREFERRED browser when working in Moodle

TechTips from the Moodle Help Desk (click "Read the rest of this topic" for the complete post)
1. Using Firefox as your primary browser for Moodle
2. Copying and Pasting Text into Forums and Online Assignments

1. Using Firefox as your primary browser for Moodle
We have had several calls to the Moodle help line recently from students and instructors who are having difficulties with various interactive features in Moodle course pages (quizzes, most recently). I would like to take this opportunity to remind all Moodle users that Mozilla Firefox is the preferred browser, as indicated in the preamble to both Student and Instructor Orientations. As a reminder, click on the Student Orientation banner above (right below the flashing red text). There, you will find all the recommendations to get the most out of Keuka College's learning management system, Moodle.
2. Copying and Pasting Text into Forums and Online Assignments
Composing your forum response or your online assignment post outside of Moodle is a good idea, so that you can save a copy in case something happens that breaks your connection to the Internet. However, MSWord and other word processors include all sorts of proprietary code in the background that tells printers how to handle the document, and this code "messes" with Moodle's ability to display the text. A simple solution is to copy your text from Word and paste it into Notepad (for PCs) or TextEdit (for Macs). This cleans out any of the coding in Word that may be interfering with the Moodle forum. Then copy and paste the text from NotePad or TextEdit to the forum post. That usually fixes the problem.
